Urban densification and building performance

This project, part of my master thesis, investigated the impact of soft-densification scenarios on built density and urban performance indicators by developing a parametric model based on a 3D cadastre. Two areas were analysed in central and suburban Geneva where current bylaws allow for roof-raising and suburban infilling interventions in order to incease built density and tackle housing shortage. The analysis highlighted the poor daylight access in high-density urban areas, as well as the limited contribution of roof-stacking to the densification processes.
